Remy Ma's not going to let her legal troubles keep her down. According to BET's celebrity news show 'The Black Carpet,' the rap diva is engaged to Brooklyn, New York rapper Papoose. The pair have been quietly dating for more than two years and plan to tie the knot in the summer.
In the meantime, jury selection for to the raptress' assault trial began yesterday. Remy, whose real name is Reminisce Smith, is accused of shooting her longtime friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the stomach for allegedly lifting $2,000 from her purse. The 26-year-old rapper has pleaded not guilty to assault and related charges. Smith could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

Kids, I'm going back to school this fall! Although one professor described the program as "hell," I am giddy with excitement! He also emailed me the syllabus for his class. We shall now refer to him as "Professor Shock and Awe." I shall not be daunted! To quote Meg Ryan in "French Kiss,"

I found out at 8:45 am today that I have a grad school interview at 1 pm... today. Holy crap! Apparently the professor had been emailing me at my UNCC address (even though I gave him my other email...) that I have been locked out of for some time now and it's in STONE today at 1pm. So now I'm frantically rehearsing my responses for the questions (I hope) I'll be asked. If they pull any surprises on me... well let's just hope it's one of those days where I'm quick on my feet.
Apparently I am meeting with four different professors, one-on-one. I like one-on-one... it helps quell my fear of a "panel interview." That idea just makes me nauseous. Plus, one of the professors I had for Senior Seminar and the other is one doing body image research. I met her a couple of months back and she's really cool. So hopefully I'll knock those other two off their feet and soon I'll be posting about my admittance letter! I'm going to try to limit my caffeine (which should be easy as I haven't had any yet today) between now and then so I don't get that "she must be on speed" demeanor that I sometimes get when put on the spot. Wish me luck.

Starting the season off with a BANG!
For all of you that can't get enough loud music, gratuitous, unnecessary explosions and fast cars in their movies... like me... this is the one for you! I rate this movie close to "Transformers" and you know how much I loved me some "Transformers." It's gonna be a good summer for movies, kids!!
